New Doctoral Positions in Biology, Medicine, and the History of Science

This fall, the Hector Fellow Academy is launch­ing a second appli­ca­tion round and will once again offer fully funded PhD positions. Until October 15, 2025, young researchers with an excel­lent Master’s degree are invited to apply. The adver­tised doctoral projects are located at the inter­sec­tion of biology, medicine, and neuro­science, as well as in the history of science.

The Hector Fellow Academy supports outstand­ing young scien­tists in the natural and engineer­ing sciences, psychol­ogy, and medicine. Success­ful appli­cants will receive funding for up to four years in the form of a research assis­tant position with the standard salary at the univer­sity of the super­vis­ing Hector Fellow. Hector Fellows are leading scien­tists from across Germany who distin­guish themselves through outstand­ing achieve­ments in research and teach­ing in STEM fields, medicine, or psychology.

In the current appli­ca­tion round, three Hector Fellows are avail­able to super­vise PhD projects:

Doctoral researchers at the Hector Fellow Academy benefit not only from compre­hen­sive finan­cial support and super­vi­sion by outstand­ing scien­tists, but also from additional key advan­tages such as an annual research budget of €9,500, train­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties in manage­ment and career devel­op­ment, and partic­i­pa­tion in network­ing events. Moreover, they become part of an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary network of top researchers.
