Sandra Wagner earns distinc­tion of the Ameri­can Academy of Optometry

Sandra Wagner, doctoral candi­date at the Insti­tute for Ophthalmic Research at the Eberhard Karls Univer­sity of Tübin­gen, supported by Hector Fellow Eberhart Zrenner, has been admit­ted as Fellow of the Ameri­can Academy of Optom­e­try (FAAO) during this year’s Academy Meeting.

A panel of leading doctors of optom­e­try reviewed her work and profes­sional creden­tials prior to the oral exam which, for the first time, was performed virtu­ally. By passing the inter­view and meeting the strict require­ments of the Fellow­ship, Sandra Wagner now joins optometrists and scien­tists who are recog­nized by colleagues for meeting high profes­sional standards and conduct­ing practice-enhanc­ing research in the field of vision and eye care.

Founded in 1922, the Ameri­can Academy of Optom­e­try is dedicated to advanc­ing the profes­sion of Optom­e­try with contin­u­ous, lifelong educa­tion and learn­ing and cutting-edge scien­tific presen­ta­tions. In addition, the Academy dissem­i­nates findings through its official journal Optom­e­try and Vision Science. Fellows of the Ameri­can Academy of Optom­e­try include a broad range of profes­sion­als, the major­ity being primary eye care practi­tion­ers, but also vision scien­tists or lectur­ers, and all of them are commit­ted to promot­ing the optomet­ric practice either via clini­cal care, educa­tion, or research.
