The Fascinating Potential of Light: From Photosynthesis to Memory Research

The Hector Fellow Academy Symposium 2023 was dedicated to the topic "Light in Biology — Photosynthesis, Visual Processes, and Neural Applications". Together with Peter Hegemann, Professor at the Institute of Biology, Humboldt University Berlin, Athina Zouni, Professor at the Institute of Biology, Humboldt University Berlin, Lauren Summer-Rooney, Emmy Noether Junior Group Leader at the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, and Hannah Monyer, Professor at Heidelberg University Hospital and at German Cancer Research Center, the audience dived into the fascinating world of light. The evening was moderated by Dr. Philip Häusser, TV presenter for programs such as Terra X Lesch & Co and author.

In this video, discover how light enables photosynthesis and life on our planet, how animals perceive their environment, and how we can study our brain by using light.
