Hector Fellow Academy Opens Appli­ca­tions for Five Fully Funded Doctoral Positions

The Hector Fellow Academy (HFA) is opening a new call for five fully funded PhD positions. Early-career researchers with an excel­lent master’s degree are invited to apply by October 15, 2026 for PhD projects in the fields of neuro­science, medicine, AI/data science, and the history of science.

The adver­tised projects offer the oppor­tu­nity to work on current and societally relevant research questions – ranging from mapping the human brain and inves­ti­gat­ing cardio­vas­cu­lar diseases to AI-driven cancer preven­tion and research into scien­tific break­throughs. The projects are super­vised by selected Hector Fellows and Hector RCDA Awardees, inter­na­tion­ally renowned scien­tists in their respec­tive fields. The five adver­tised PhD projects are super­vised by Katrin Amunts, Stefanie Dimmeler, Brigitte Röder, Carolin Schnei­der, and Matthias H. Tschöp.

The HFA offers success­ful appli­cants reliable finan­cial support through­out their doctoral studies. PhD researchers can be employed for up to four years as research associates at the univer­sity of their respec­tive Hector Fellow or Hector RCDA Awardee. In addition, doctoral researchers benefit from the Hector Fellow Academy’s inter­dis­ci­pli­nary network, an annual personal research budget of €9,500, and profes­sional devel­op­ment oppor­tu­ni­ties in manage­ment and career-related topics.

For more than ten years, the Hector Fellow Academy has been creat­ing attrac­tive oppor­tu­ni­ties for outstand­ing early-career researchers, enabling them to pursue their research ideas in an excel­lent and inter­dis­ci­pli­nary environment.
