Antje Boetius is Mercator Professor 2020 at the University of Duisburg-Essen
This year's Mercator Professorship is held by Hector Fellow Antje Boetius. "With Professor Antje Boetius, we have succeeded in gaining a proven scientific personality and ambitious advocate of climate protection as a Mercator Professor. I am very pleased about this and look forward to the impulses she will provide in the course of her lectures at the UDE", said the Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke.
As a Mercator Professor, Antje Boetius will give two lectures on her research on climate change and climate protection in the winter semester 2020/2021. The dates are 12 November (Duisburg) and 10 December (Essen). Registration for participation in the lectures is required and will probably be possible here from October.
The Mercator Professorship was established in 1997 to keep alive the scientific legacy of the famous Duisburg cartographer and polymath Gerhard Mercator (1512–1594). Famous persons who held the professorship were, among others, Joachim Gauck, Richard von Weizsäcker, Götz W. Werner or Alice Schwarzer.
Congratulations to Antje Boetius!
