Meeting of the Hector Fellow Academy Young Scientists in Würzburg
At the Welcome & Networking Event on February 23–24, 2023 in Würzburg, 24 doctoral researchers of the Hector Fellow Academy had the opportunity to actively network with each other and exchange about their research and their doctoral projects. For the first time, the Welcome & Networking Event took place at the research location of members of the Hector Fellow Academy.
During the two-day event, the young scientists, who came from all over Germany, had the opportunity to get to know the University of Würzburg, where Hector RCD Awardees Agnieszka Nowak-Król and Ana Rita Brochado and their doctoral researchers are conducting research, and to participate in various career workshops. After a welcome by Professor Holger Braunschweig, Head of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Hector RCD Awardee Agnieszka Nowak-Król (Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Würzburg) and Hector RCD Awardee Ana Rita Brochado (Chair of Microbiology, University of Würzburg) gave the young scientists not only exciting insights into their research areas but also into their career paths. Afterwards, their doctoral researchers Felix Full, Jan Niedens and Adewale Ogunleye guided them through the laboratories and explained their research activities. In the afternoon and the next morning, workshops on Career Development, Science Communication and Mental Health were on the agenda.
The Welcome & Networking Event takes place once a year and aims to welcome newly admitted young scientists to the HFA and to give the young scientists the possibility to get to know each others research better. Every year, the Hector Fellow Academy advertises several doctoral positions with Hector Fellows or Hector RCD Awardees. The current application period runs until March 31, 2023.
