Paper by Jonas Wunsch published in the journal Inorganic Chemistry
In their paper the scientists present a protocol to synthesize air stable gem-diaurated gold(III) compounds from 1,3‑diketones in a single cycloauration step with tetrachloroauric acid.
The team was able to develop a more direct and simple access to gem-diaurated gold(III) complexes, which is neither based on a phosphonium bis(ylide) ligand nor a change in the oxidation state of gold.
The researchers, who also include Hector Fellow A. Stephen K. Hashmi, expect that the new protocol can serve as a basis for further research and thus further facilitate the synthesis of gold(III) compounds in the future.
Congratulations to Jonas Wunsch!
