Infor­ma­tion for HFA members

Dear HFA members,

Thank you for regis­ter­ing for the HFA Sympo­sium 2025 in Düssel­dorf. We are looking forward to spend­ing two excit­ing days together. On this website you can find some organi­za­tional infor­ma­tion as well as the program and the agenda for this year’s members’ meeting to have the times and locations on hand during the stay.

PROGRAM

  • On Wednes­day, July 9, the Hector Research Career Devel­op­ment Award Ceremony will take place at the restau­rant Landhaus Mönchen­werth. We have organized a bus to take us there leaving at 5:30 pm from Hotel Steigen­berger.
  • On Thurs­day, July 10, we start from 9:00 am with the members' meeting at Haus der Univer­sität which is in 5 minutes walking distance from Hotel Steigen­berger. The meeting will be followed by presen­ta­tions of current HFA projects and by insights into Katrin Amunts’ research. After taking group pictures we will have lunch at the Hotel Steigen­berger from 12:30 pm on. From there, we will walk to K20 to get an exclu­sive tour start­ing at 1:45 pm through our exhibi­tion ‘Brain Research’ by Katrin Amunts and her team. The follow­ing poster session will take place at the Hotel Steigen­berger again.
  • From 5:30 pm on we meet at K20 for the public science evening ‘Brain, Computer and AI — Soon Hard to Distin­guish?’. After the recep­tion we meet at 8:20 pm in front of K20 to walk together to the restau­rant Brasserie Stadthaus.
  • On Friday, July 11, there is no official program any more. Please check out by 12:00 pm. There will be a profes­sional photo shoot­ing for all newly accepted members at 9:00 am. Every­one inter­ested may take part in a guided tour (English and German-speak­ing) through the current ‘Marc Chagall’ exhibi­tion at K20 start­ing at 11:00 am. Please do not forget to regis­ter for these optional program items.

HOTEL

We have reserved rooms at the Hotel Steigen­berger (Königsallee 1a, 40212 Düssel­dorf) for all members. Please be aware that we cannot guaran­tee a cancel­la­tion free of charge after April 15, 2025.

Please be sure to indicate at check-in that you are a guest of the Hector Fellow Academy. The costs for accom­mo­da­tion and break­fast are covered. The hotel guaran­tees check-in from 3:00 pm and asks to check out by 12:00 pm.

For all young researchers we have booked double rooms, please indicate your preferred roommate (or several) in the regis­tra­tion poll.

HOW TO GET TO THE HOTEL

From central station Düssel­dorf: Walk to the local train station Düssel­dorf and take either the ‘U79’ in direc­tion Duisburg Meiderich Bf or the ‘U77’ in direc­tion D‑Am Seestern and exit at the station D‑Hein­rich-Heine-Allee U. To get to the hotel, you have to walk another 5 minutes towards the court­yard garden.

TRANS­FERS IN DÜSSELDORF

The trans­fer on the first evening to Landhaus Mönchen­werth has been arranged; we have booked a bus for the outward and return journey. All other locations are in walking distance from Hotel Steigen­berger.

TRAVEL COSTS

Please plan your journey as cost-efficient as possi­ble. Due to environ­men­tal reasons, as a rule we do not reimburse national flights. Please find further details in the bottom of the reimburse­ment form.

DRESS­CODE

Some of you may be wonder­ing what to wear during the event. We recom­mend wearing Business Casual during inter­nal meetings. On the first evening, there will be the Hector Research Career Devel­op­ment Award Ceremony which is the most formal part of the sympo­sium. Also, for the second evening, we recom­mend more formal clothing.

DIETARY RESTRIC­TIONS

Please let us know about any dietary restric­tions in the regis­tra­tion so that we can take them into account.
