Jun.-Professor at the Medical Department of Goethe University

Faculty member, Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI)

Pincipal Investigator, Deutsches Zentrum für Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung (DZHK)

Sofia-Iris Bibli is a junior Professor for Cardiovascular Surveillance at the Medical Department of Goethe University. Iris is also a faculty member of the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute and a Principal Investigator of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research.

Her team focuses on metabolic surveillance mechanisms that govern vascular regeneration. By making use of multi-omic approaches, she investigates how nutrients regulate vascular epitranslatomic, epitranscriptomic and epigenetic profiles that control endothelial cell fitness.

Her research is supported by the Emmy Noether programme and the DFG initiatives CRC1366 “Vascular control of organ function” and CRC1531 “Damage control by the stroma-vascular compartment”.  She won multiple awards, including the Oskar Lapp Prize, the Dr. Paul and Cilli Will-Stiftung Prize, the prestigious Sharpey-Schafer Lecture Prize and the Johanna Quandt Young Academy Science Award.
