The video provides information about Prof. Ralf Bartenschlager's work on different virus species
Prof. Dr. Ralf Bartenschlager is a molecular- and cell biologist and head of the Department of Molecular Virology at the University Hospital of Heidelberg and the Department of Virus Associated Carcinogenesis at the German Cancer Research Center.
The focus of Prof. Bartenschlagers work is on the propagation strategies and immunobiology of medically important hepatitis viruses, flaviviruses and the SARS-COV‑2 virus. The aim of the research of Prof. Bartenschlager and his team is the development of broad-spectrum viral therapeutics. With the help of these, viral diseases such as the hepatitis C or SARS-COV‑2 can be treated.
The Robert Koch Award winner emphasizes the importance of the collaboration with the Hector Fellow Academy and the resulting interdisciplinary and scientific exchange among the members.
