Hector Fellow Bloch receives award for outstand­ing services to science and art

Immanuel Bloch received the Bavar­ian Maxim­il­ian Order for Science and Art this week from the Bavar­ian Prime Minis­ter Markus Söder.

The Maxim­il­ian Order is the highest ranking honor for outstand­ing contri­bu­tions to science and art in Bavaria, currently only held by 90 other impor­tant figures.

He received the order for his pioneer­ing works in quantum physics result­ing in a new and inter­dis­ci­pli­nary field of research at the cross­ing of quantum optics, quantum infor­ma­tion process­ing and solid-state physics: the explo­ration of quantum many body systems.
